Photocatalytic nitrogen fixation under an ambient atmosphere using a porous coordination polymer with bridging dinitrogen anions

Yan Xiong et al.

Summary: We report the synthesis of a zinc-based coordination polymer that contains bridging dinitrogen anionic ligands, which shows high efficiency as a photocatalyst for nitrogen fixation under ambient conditions. Experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the active sites in the polymer promote the formation of NH3 and sustain continuous catalytic cycles. This work presents an example of a molecular active site embedded within a coordination polymer for mild nitrogen fixation.

Quasi-Phthalocyanine Conjugated Covalent Organic Frameworks with Nitrogen-Coordinated Transition Metal Centers for High-Efficiency Electrocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Minghang Jiang et al.

Summary: The study presents a pyrolysis-free approach to incorporate ordered quasi-phthalocyanine N-coordinated transition metal centers into a 2D covalent organic framework for enhanced NRR performance. Among the Ti, Cu, and Co variants, Ti-COF exhibited superior NRR activity due to its ability to activate N-2 molecules and suppress HER. This work demonstrates the potential of 2D-COF materials with coordinated transition metal centers for efficient electrocatalytic NRR.

Single atom site conjugated copper polyphthalocyanine assisted carbon nanotubes as cathode for reversible Li-CO2 batteries

Yunyun Xu et al.

Summary: In recent years, Li-CO2 battery has become a research hotspot due to its high discharge capacity, energy density, and environmental benefits. However, the slow decomposition kinetics and difficulty in practical applications have been a challenge for researchers. In this study, copper polyphthalocyanine-carbon nanotubes composites (CuPPc-CNTs) were prepared as the cathode for reversible Li-CO2 batteries. The composites exhibited high discharge capacity, excellent polarization, and stable cycles. Copper polyphthalocyanine provided efficient catalytic sites and CO2 adsorption and activation, while carbon nanotubes contributed to the conductive network. The synergistic effect of the two compounds resulted in excellent catalytic activity.

Understanding the Site-Selective Electrocatalytic Co-Reduction Mechanism for Green Urea Synthesis Using Copper Phthalocyanine Nanotubes

Jit Mukherjee et al.

Summary: This study reports the green synthesis of urea under ambient conditions by electrochemical co-reduction of N-2 and CO2 gases using copper phthalocyanine nanotubes (CuPc NTs) as an efficient electrocatalyst. The CuPc NTs have multiple active sites that can effectively reduce N-2 and CO2 gas molecules to urea. The findings provide new mechanistic insight for the development of efficient noble metal-free electrocatalysts for the synthesis of green urea.
