Altered Resting State Functional Connectivity and Its Correlation with Cognitive Functions at Ultra High Risk for Psychosis

Summary: This study aims to identify robust resting state-functional connectivity alterations in Ultra-High Risk (UHR) for psychosis subjects and their correlations with neuropsychological characteristics. The results showed that UHR individuals had impairments in working memory and set-shifting tasks. The Default Mode Network (DMN) of UHR subjects showed increased connectivity with visual areas and decreased connectivity with the Dorsal Attention Network (DAN), while the salience network (SN) displayed increased connectivity with wide posterior cortical areas in the temporal, parietal, and occipital lobes, and this connectivity was positively correlated with their neuropsychological test scores.
