Yanhong Feng et al.

Summary: In order to enhance the thermal conductivity of PTFE-based composites, hBN and SiC fillers are added to the PTFE matrix. The composites prepared by PVM process show improved thermal conductivity compared to compression molding. The hBN/SiC/PTFE composites also maintain low dielectric constant and loss.

Summary: With the development of 5G communication technology, there is a growing demand for dielectric composites with low dielectric constant and low coefficient of thermal expansion. This study investigates the effect of hollow silica microspheres (HSM) on the structure, dielectric properties, and thermal properties of HSM/PTFE composites, and finds that composites with 40 vol% filler content exhibit excellent properties at high frequency and lower coefficient of thermal expansion.

High-throughput finite-element design of dielectric composites for high-frequency copper clad laminates

Jia-Cheng Wang et al.

Summary: Dielectric substrates with low dielectric constant and good thermal stability are desired for high-frequency and high-speed signal transmission. In this study, the effects of fillers on the dielectric constant and coefficient of thermal expansion of composites were systematically studied using high-throughput finite-element calculations. It was found that the coefficient of thermal expansion is more sensitive to the filler structure than the dielectric constant. A skeleton structure was proposed to achieve the desired performance targets with lower filler content.

Enhancing high-frequency dielectric and mechanical properties of SiO2/PTFE composites from the interface fluorination

Wei Jin et al.

Summary: A novel pentafluorostyrene (PFS) interface modifier was used to improve the interfacial compatibility and enhance the dielectric properties of SiO2/PTFE composites, reducing the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). With a PFS content of 5 wt%, the CTE was reduced to 86 ppm/degrees C and the dielectric loss ranged from 0.71 x 10-3 to 1.53 x 10-3 at frequencies from 5 to 40 GHz. The PFS-modified composite exhibited stable dielectric properties across a temperature range of 0-150 degrees C, making it suitable for high-frequency and high-temperature applications.

Characterization, dielectric properties, and mechanical properties of cyanate epoxy composites modified by KH550-AlOOH@GO

Yulong Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, graphene oxide (GO) was obtained via an improved Hummers method, and pseudoboehmite (AlOOH) nanoparticles were prepared with Sol-Gel method and modified to form KH550-AlOOH@GO. The composites showed a uniform dispersion of KH550-AlOOH@GO in the E51-BCE matrix, with good interaction between them, leading to enhanced mechanical properties such as bending strength, bending modulus, and impact strength. The dielectric properties of the composite were also analyzed, showing a dielectric constant of 3.12 and a dielectric loss of 0.0027 at 100 Hz.
