Fretting corrosion behavior of WC-10Co-4Cr coating on Inconel 690 alloy by HVOF thermal spraying

Meigui Yin et al.

Summary: WC-10Co-4Cr coating was deposited on the outside surface of Inconel 690 alloy tube using high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) process. The coating-treated alloy tube exhibited better electrochemical corrosion response and wear behavior, especially in terms of fretting wear resistance.

Excellent electromagnetic-wave absorbing performances and great harsh-environment resistance of FeCoNiCrxMn high entropy alloys

Haoran Zhou et al.

Summary: FeCoNiCrxMn high-entropy alloys (HEAs) prepared by a 3D high-energy ball-milling method exhibit phase transformation, abnormal changes in static magnetic properties, and corrosion resistance modulation with the variation of Cr contents. The addition of Cr improves the corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of the alloys, which also show excellent electromagnetic-wave absorption performances.

Corrosion behavior of PS-PVD spray Yb2Si2O7 environmental barrier coatings during continuous water vapor exposure

Jian Wu et al.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of Si/Yb2Si2O7 environmental barrier coatings prepared by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition during continuous water vapor exposure were investigated. The temperature had a major impact on the corrosion morphology of the EBCs. The various corrosion morphologies of Yb2Si2O7 affected the oxidation kinetics of the TGO, resulting in a porous structure, attributed to the Si-SiO2 phase transition and H2 placeholder aggregation. Therefore, a more resistant protecting layer or film is needed for Si/Yb2Si2O7 EBCs.

Breakaway oxidation behavior of Fe-based cylinder coating with eutectic ceramics in water vapor at 650?C

Xianbing Tan et al.

Summary: In this study, the oxidation behavior of a Fe-based cylinder coating mixed with eutectic ceramic particles was investigated. The Fe-based coating showed a uniform and dense structure with less defects after spraying. The presence of ceramic particles played a role in delaying the breakaway oxidation. The oxidation rate of the coating was higher in the aqueous atmosphere compared to air.

Microstructure and oxidation behaviour of MoSi2 coating combined MoB diffusion barrier layer on Mo substrate at 1300 °C

Ruixiong Zhai et al.

Summary: Using a two-step pack cementation method, double layers of MoSi2-MoB were applied on the surface of a Mo substrate to enhance its oxidation resistance at high temperatures. The formation of a dense and continuous SiO2 layer with low O-2 permeability contributed to the excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance of the double layers.

Summary: The long-term corrosion resistance of CrMoSiCN coating in seawater has been proven to be improved by the reaction layer formed during long-term immersion testing. Moreover, a novel method of enhancing the antibacterial effect of CrMoSiCN coating induced by friction behaviors has been reported, showing that the generated H3O+ and H2MoO4 can effectively kill bacteria.
