Semiconductor nanochannels in metallic carbon nanotubes by thermomechanical chirality alteration

Dai-Ming Tang et al.

Summary: In this study, the electronic properties of individual single-wall carbon nanotubes were controlled by altering the local chirality using in situ transmission electron microscopy. A transition towards a larger chiral angle region was observed, leading to a controlled metal-to-semiconductor transition. Additionally, quantum transport at room temperature was demonstrated for the fabricated nanotube transistors with a channel length as short as 2.8 nanometers.

Advanced machine learning decision policies for diameter control of carbon nanotubes

Rahul Rao et al.

Summary: In this study, a machine learning planner was used to control the diameters of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), successfully optimizing synthesis conditions to maximize the SWCNT diameters within specific ranges. The optimized growth experiments showed high selectivity compared to unoptimized growth experiments. Interestingly, significantly different synthesis conditions were found for maximizing two diameter ranges, despite their relative closeness.

High-throughput screening and machine learning for the efficient growth of high-quality single-wall carbon nanotubes

Zhong-Hai Ji et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a method that combines high-throughput technique with machine learning to efficiently screen the growth conditions for the synthesis of high-quality SWCNTs. By optimizing parameters such as temperature, reduction time, and carbon precursor, and establishing a related database, the prediction accuracy of SWCNTs growth conditions is significantly improved.

Spatially resolved MoOx phases by the laser oxidation of MoO2: a possible route for all-molybdenum oxide devices

O. de Melo et al.

Summary: MoO2 thin films were subjected to a laser localized oxidation process to obtain different MoOx phases, including spatially resolved regions of MoO2, alpha-MoO3, beta-MoO3, amorphous a-MoO3, and Mo4O11. Phase separation was found to be driven by a sublimation/deposition process and solid state reaction, and electrical measurements showed a transformation from metal-like to semiconducting Mo oxide phases, potentially for the development of laser written all-oxide electronic circuits.
