Percolation Threshold of the Thermal, Electrical and Optical Properties of Carbonyl-Iron Microcomposites

I. Y. Forero-Sandoval et al.

Summary: The research shows that thermal and electrical conductivities of composite materials increase with filler concentration, while emissivity decreases. The percolation thresholds of these properties vary at different volume fractions, indicating the effectiveness of the percolation phenomenon in modifying the physical properties of particulate composites.

Regulatable I-V behaviors of graphene nanoplatelets-carbon nanotubes/epoxy resin composite

Yang Yuan et al.

Summary: The study found that the GNPs-CNTs/ER composite exhibits excellent nonlinear I-V properties, and diverse electrical behaviors can be obtained by adjusting the weight ratios of graphene oxide and multiwalled carbon nanotubes as well as filler concentrations. Samples with proper weight ratios and filler concentrations show stable reversibility, making them a practical material for protecting electronic equipment from overvoltage damages. Mechanisms of the regulatable I-V behavior of GNPs-CNTs/ER composite were also discussed in the research.

Dielectric Permittivity, AC Electrical Conductivity and Conduction Mechanism of High Crosslinked-Vinyl Polymers and Their Pd(OAc)2 Composites

Elsayed Elbayoumy et al.

Summary: Semiconductor materials based on metal high crosslinked-vinyl polymer composites were prepared by loading Pd(OAc)(2) on both Poly(ethylene-1,2-diyl dimethacrylate) (poly(EDMA)) and poly(ethylene-1,2-diyl dimethacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) (Poly(EDMA-co-MMA)). The introduction of Pd(OAc)(2) led to an increase in dielectric permittivity and AC electrical conductivity for the polymers. The materials exhibited semiconductor behavior and the conduction mechanism was proposed to be Quantum Mechanical Tunneling (QMT).

Influence of Graphene Nanoplatelet Lateral Size on the Electrical Conductivity and Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Performance of Polyester Nanocomposites

Milad Madinehei et al.

Summary: Polyester nanocomposites reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets were prepared by high shear mixing and compression molding, with two different lateral sizes of GnPs. The electrical conductivity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding behavior of these nanocomposites were experimentally investigated, showing that the alignment of GnPs and their lateral dimensions greatly influence the performance of the composites. The non-aligned smaller-size GnPs exhibited higher absorption coefficient and superior EMI shielding effectiveness compared to existing polymer composites with similar thickness.
