Assessment of the Characteristics of Waxy Rice Mutants Generated by CRISPR/Cas9

Yuhao Fu et al.

Summary: In this study, wx mutants were successfully generated in five different rice varieties using the CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing system. The wx mutation significantly affected the quality and viscosity of starch, but did not affect agronomic traits. It is suggested to prefer parents with low initial AAC in breeding programs.
