A holistic approach to determine the enhanced oil recovery potential of hydroxyethylcellulose, tragacanth gum and carboxymethylcellulose

Sandeep Rellegadla et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of tragacanth gum, hydroxyethylcellulose, and carboxymethyl cellulose as enhanced oil recovery (EOR) fluids through a three-stage screening process. It demonstrates that HEC and TGU exhibit better rheological characteristics and wettability alteration capabilities compared to polyacrylamide polymer, showcasing higher additional oil recovery potential. The innovative approach integrates reservoir characteristics and practical screening principles to optimize EOR fluid selection for crude oil recovery in the oil and gas industry.
