MELTF Might Regulate Ferroptosis, Pyroptosis, and Autophagy in Platelet-Rich Plasma-Mediated Endometrial Epithelium Regeneration

Yanhong Mao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effects and possible mechanisms of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on endometrial regeneration. The results showed that PRP promotes endometrium regeneration by up-regulating the retinol metabolism and extracellular matrix receptor interaction pathway with MELTF. Meanwhile, PRP could also inhibit endometrial epithelial cell death by regulating ferroptosis, autophagy, and pyroptosis.

Regulation of EGF-stimulated activation of the PI-3K/AKT pathway by exocyst-mediated exocytosis

Seong J. An et al.

Summary: This study reveals that the PI-3K/AKT pathway in epithelial cells, which is activated by EGFR signaling, is regulated by the exocyst complex. Live-cell imaging shows that PI(3,4,5)P3 levels fluctuate at the membrane and these fluctuations are associated with local PI(3,4,5)P3 increases at sites of exocytic fusion.

Targeting Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor in Head and Neck Cancer

Aarti Bhatia

Summary: Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas are increasing in incidence, and systemic therapies are the main treatment for disease recurrence. However, responses to treatment are often limited due to resistance. Novel drugs and drug combinations need to be developed based on biomarkers and preclinical research to improve patient outcomes.

New insights into FAK structure and function in focal adhesions

Johanne Le Coq et al.

Summary: In this review, the authors discuss the role of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) in cell-matrix adhesion and migration. They highlight the known structural features of FAK and the challenges in understanding its integration in the focal adhesion complex and the structural changes during focal adhesion maturation.

Rho-associated kinase1 promotes laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tumorigenesis and progression via the FAK signaling pathway

Liyun Yang et al.

Summary: ROCK1 promotes tumorigenesis and progression of LSCC through the FAK signaling pathway. Its overexpression is correlated with advanced stage and poor survival prognosis. Inhibition of FAK activity impairs the tumor-promoting effects.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

The Role of Melanotransferrin (CD228) in the regulation of the differentiation of Human Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hBM-MSC)

Maria Dubon et al.

Summary: The study reveals that CD228 is expressed in young hBM-MSC but not in FB, and may play a role in regulating osteogenesis and adipogenesis. Knockdown of CD228 with siRNA enhances osteogenesis and promotes lipid accumulation during adipogenesis in hBM-MSC in vitro.
