Development and validation of a novel model incorporating MRI-based radiomics signature with clinical biomarkers for distinguishing pancreatic carcinoma from mass-forming chronic pancreatitis

Jingjing Liu et al.

Summary: A mixed model combining MRI-based radiomics signature with clinical biomarkers was developed and preliminarily validated to distinguish pancreatic carcinoma (PC) from mass-forming chronic pancreatitis (MFCP), which is of great importance for treatment strategy formulation and selection of nonsurgical procedures.

A comprehensive review of the multifaceted role of the microbiota in human pancreatic carcinoma

Gouri Pandya et al.

Summary: Pancreatic carcinoma is a highly aggressive and drug-resistant cancer, and studies have shown that the oral, gut, and tumor microbiota play a critical role in its development. The microbiota has the unique ability to influence the tumor microenvironment and the metabolism of chemotherapeutic agents, making it an important area of research.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Ultrasound-based deep learning radiomics in the assessment of pathological complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced breast cancer

Meng Jiang et al.

Summary: The study developed and validated a deep learning radiomic nomogram for predicting pathological complete response in breast cancer patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy using pre- and post-treatment ultrasound images. The model demonstrated high accuracy, good calibration, and outperformed clinical models and experts' predictions. The deep learning-based radiomic nomogram showed good predictive value and clinical usefulness for individualized treatment in locally advanced breast cancer.

Radiomics Model Based on MR Images to Discriminate Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma and Mass-Forming Chronic Pancreatitis Lesions

Yan Deng et al.

Summary: The study successfully distinguished pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and mass-forming chronic pancreatitis using radiomics models based on multiparametric MRI. The results suggest that radiomics models outperform clinical models and radiologists' evaluations in identifying PDAC and MFCP, indicating potential clinical utility.
