Modelling of sorbent-based gas filters for indoor environment: A comprehensive review

Mohamad Ghamangiz Khararoodi et al.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive overview of the models developed in the past two decades to estimate the performance of adsorbent filters for indoor air purification. The models are classified into interpellate mass transfer models and kinetic models, and their strengths, weaknesses, and useful applications are discussed. The review also highlights the rate-limiting step(s) in the mass transfer process and the effects of gas mixture, relative humidity, and temperature on filter performance.

A systematic comparative study of granular activated carbons and catalysts for ozone removal

Marzieh Namdari et al.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the ozone removal by various granular activated carbons and granular manganese oxide-cuprous oxide catalysts. It was found that coconut shell-based activated carbon has a substantial capacity to remove ozone at moderate and mild concentration levels, while catalysts feature a slow steady decrease of active sites over time. The material properties were found to be strongly linked to the ozone removal capacity.

Numerical shape development study in view of random packed beds - The Yo-Yo shape

Jennie von Seckendorff et al.

Summary: This study reviews common geometries used in catalytic fixed bed reactors and evaluates a specific shape in depth to understand its impact on packing structure, flow field, pressure drop, and residence time distribution. The research marks the first attempt to utilize numerical packing generation and computational fluid dynamics for a thorough understanding of shape impact and potential for future automated shape optimization procedures.
