Thermal comfort performance and energy-efficiency evaluation of six personal heating/cooling devices

Summary: This study evaluates and compares the thermal comfort effectiveness and energy consumption of six different personal heating/cooling devices. The results show that the heating devices improve subjects' thermal sensation, but their energy efficiency varies greatly. Under hot conditions, desk and floor fans improve thermal accept-ability, while a ventilated cushion cannot enhance thermal comfort. Most subjects prefer heated cushions and floor fans.

Summary: The Earth's energy budget is influenced by spatial inhomogeneities in sea surface temperature and sea ice changes, as well as the pattern effect of global sea surface temperature. Ignoring these factors could lead to overestimation of future climate warming and increased uncertainty in climate projections. Including the pattern effect in projections indicates a stronger counteracting force against warming than expected, potentially exceeding current climate goals.

Summary: The study identified two national-scale inequalities in Dutch residential zones - overexposure of high-income groups and underexposure of owners of high-value properties, as well as eight local-scale inequalities. Ethnic inequalities, particularly overexposure of Non-western and Western immigrants, were found to be the most severe and frequent at the local scale. Females were often the second most overexposed to LST at the local scale.
