Dynamic emission rates of human activity in biological cleanrooms

Fan Zhang et al.

Summary: Humans are the primary source of particulate contamination in biological cleanrooms. Experiments were conducted to study the impact of human activities on particle emissions and the effect of air change rates on particle concentration in a biopharmaceutical cleanroom. The results showed that particle concentration was closely related to activity intensity and cleanliness. The equivalent value of human particle emission rates was quantitatively calculated, and the potential energy saving of the fan system in the cleanroom was analyzed.

Prevention of surgical site infection under different ventilation systems in operating room environment

Zhijian Liu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the performance of four different ventilation systems in operating rooms, finding that the TAF system was the most effective in ensuring air cleanliness. The study also indicated that the cleanliness of the air in the operating area depends not only on the airflow rate of the ventilation system, but also on the airflow distribution affected by obstacles such as surgical lamps and surgical staff.

Comparison of generation of particles and bacteria in endoscopic surgery and thoracotomy

Akane Odagiri et al.

Summary: The study found that during thoracotomy, there was a significant increase in airborne particle concentration, especially at the beginning of electrosurgical tool use, compared to endoscopic surgery. The level of exposure to airborne particles during thoracotomy was 4-27 times higher than during endoscopic surgery, along with a higher concentration of bacteria.
