Risk of bias in systematic reviews of tendinopathy management: Are we comparing apples with oranges?

Dimitris Challoumas et al.

Summary: The study found significant issues with the use of risk of bias (RoB) assessment tools in tendinopathy management systematic reviews, including half of the reviews not using RoB and only 30% using RoB to grade the certainty of evidence. The universal use of a single RoB assessment tool should be promoted in journals and systematic review guidance documents.

Do we need to improve the reporting of evidence in tendinopathy management? A critical appraisal of systematic reviews with recommendations on strength of evidence assessment

Dimitris Challoumas et al.

Summary: This study critically appraised 57 published systematic reviews on tendinopathy and found that reviews published in higher impact factor journals had higher quality scores. Only 20% of the reviews used the results of risk-of-bias assessment in data synthesis, while half did not assess the strength of evidence of their results.
