Treatment Burden in People with Hypertension is Correlated with Patient Experience with Self-Management

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between treatment burden and self-management factors in patients with hypertension. The results showed that individuals with hypertension who had lower confidence in self-management ability, lower health literacy, more financial difficulties, and health care providers with poorer interpersonal skills reported higher treatment burden scores. The findings suggest that stringent hypertension treatment guidelines may place additional strains on patients already struggling with disease self-management.
