A Case Report of Burkholderia mallei Infection Leading to Pneumonia

Summary: We report a case of glanders in a 60-year-old male with a history of diabetes. The patient presented with cough, expectoration, and fever. CT imaging revealed B. mallei infection in the lung and lymph nodes, and inflammation in the lower lobes of both lungs. Diagnosis was confirmed by lymph node biopsy and bronchoalveolar lavage multiplex PCR-based targeted gene sequencing. The patient showed improvement after treatment with meropenem.
