Meiotic Chromosomal Abnormality Detected in a Heterozygote of Elymus nutans

Bo Liu et al.

Summary: This study revealed the presence of complex chromosomal structural variations, including inversions and deletions, in Elymus nutans through meiotic analysis. The study also found various abnormalities in different stages of meiosis and different chromosomes, indicating the significant contribution of secondary rearrangements to chromosomal variations in E. nutans.

Molecular cytogenetic study on the plants of Elymus nutans with varying fertility on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Bo Liu et al.

Summary: A molecular cytogenetic study was conducted on the allohexaploid species Elymus nutans with varying fertility. The research found that chromosome variants were unevenly distributed among genomes and among different homologue chromosomes. The findings also revealed significant correlations between fertility levels and chromosome variants, as well as correlations between seed setting rates and genome heterozygosity. Chromosome pairing analysis showed variations in chromosome configuration forms and frequencies, and the St and H genomes exhibited more chromosome structural variations than the Y genome. Overall, the fertility and genetic characteristics of E. nutans are influenced by genome heterozygosity and chromosome pair alterations.
