Validity, reliability, and responsiveness of the Swedish version of Western Ontario Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder index

Kristofer Hallberg et al.

Summary: This study tested the validity, responsiveness, and reliability of the Swedish translation of the Western Ontario of the Shoulder index (WOOS) in patients with osteoarthritis of the shoulder. The results showed that the Swedish translation of WOOS is valid, reliable, and responsive for use in a clinical setting for patients with glenohumeral osteoarthritis treated with shoulder arthroplasty.

The Patient Acceptable Symptom State as a Predictor of the Sports Activity Available State After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair

Dong Min Kim et al.

Summary: This study found a significant correlation between SAAS and PASS, with SAAS being predictable using PASS values. Patients with higher preoperative ASES scores had higher odds of achieving both PASS and SAAS, while patients with diabetes and large to massive tears had lower odds of achieving SAAS.

Minimal Clinically Important Differences (MCID) for the Western Ontario Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder Index (WOOS) and the Oxford Shoulder Score (OSS)

Marc Randall Kristensen Nyring et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the MCID for WOOS and OSS in patients with glenohumeral osteoarthritis treated with an aTSA. The anchor-based method was considered superior to the distribution-based method for calculating MCID, with WOOS having a MCID of 12.3 points and OSS of 4.3 points in this patient population.

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty provides better shoulder function than hemiarthroplasty for displaced 3-and 4-part proximal humeral fractures in patients aged 70 years or older: a multicenter randomized controlled trial

Eythor O. Jonsson et al.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) and hemiarthroplasty (HA) for treating displaced 3- and 4-part fractures in elderly patients. The results showed that rTSA provides better shoulder function and patient satisfaction compared to HA, mainly due to improved range of motion. Patients over 80 years of age seemed to benefit less from rTSA treatment compared to those aged 70-79 years.

Meaningful values in the Forgotten Joint Score after total knee arthroplasty MINIMAL CLINICAL IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE, MINIMAL IMPORTANT AND DETECTABLE CHANGES, AND PATIENT-ACCEPTABLE SYMPTOM STATE

N. D. Clement et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the minimal clinically important difference (MCID), minimal important change (MIC), minimal detectable change (MDC), and patient-acceptable symptom state (PASS) threshold in the Forgotten Joint Score (FJS) based on patient satisfaction six months following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Results showed that the MCID for FJS was 16.6 and the MIC for a cohort was 17.7 points. The MDC90 for the FGS was 12 points, and a postoperative FJS of 22 or more was predictive of achieving PASS.
