Efficacy of Electromyographic Biofeedback in Muscle Recovery after Meniscectomy in Soccer Players

Veronica Morales-Sanchez et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the effectiveness of EMG-BF in the recovery of electromyographic activity of the quadriceps after meniscectomy. The results indicate that EMG-BF is effective in neuromuscular rehabilitation.

Reliability and precision of single frequency bioelectrical impedance assessment of lower extremity swelling following total knee arthroplasty

Brian J. Loyd et al.

Summary: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is the most common elective orthopedic surgery in the United States. Post-TKA lower extremity swelling is significant and can impact patient satisfaction and functional decline, but current methods for measuring it lack precision and reliability. This study found that single frequency bioelectrical impedance assessment (SF-BIA) is more reliable and precise for measuring post-TKA swelling compared to circumferential measures (CM), improving the ability to detect minute fluctuations in swelling.

Brainstem Pain-Modulation Circuitry and Its Plasticity in Neuropathic Pain: Insights From Human Brain Imaging Investigations

Emily P. Mills et al.

Summary: Acute pain acts as a protective mechanism while chronic neuropathic pain may be related to plasticity within the brainstem pain-modulation circuitry, leading to pro-nociceptive conditions. Recent MRI studies have identified a key role of this system in various analgesic and hyperalgesic responses.
