Risk factors for left atrial thrombus or spontaneous echo contrast in non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients with low CHA2DS2-VASc score

Jindong Chen et al.

Summary: Through the review of TEE files of NVAF patients, it was found that elevated fibrinogen and enlarged left atrium are independent risk factors for LAT/LASEC in NVAF patients with low CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc scores. These factors, when added to the CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score, improved the prediction accuracy of LAT/LASEC in this patient population.

Predictors for reduced flow velocity in left atrial appendage during sinus rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation

Eiji Fukuhara et al.

Summary: Study found that decreased left atrial appendage flow velocity during sinus rhythm in atrial fibrillation patients is associated with non-paroxysmal AF, elevated BNP levels, prior heart failure, high CHADS2 score, high CHA2DS2-VASc score, no beta blocker administration, increased LAVI, elevated E/e' ratio, reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, and high prevalence of left ventricular hypertrophy. Elevated BNP levels and large LAVI predict decreased LAAFV during SR in AF patients.

Correlation Between CHA2DS2-VASc Score and Left Atrial Size in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: A More Than 15-Year Prospective Follow-Up Study

Chin-Feng Tsai et al.

Summary: Left atrial size and CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score are associated with the risk of stroke in atrial fibrillation patients, but in the multivariable Cox model, only CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score remained statistically significant.

Increased hemoglobin A1c level associates with low left atrial appendage flow velocity in patients of atrial fibrillation

Ying Wei et al.

Summary: This study found that elevated HbAlc levels were associated with decreased LAAV in non-valvular AF patients, reflecting potentially impaired contractile function of the left atrial appendage.
