A novel electrochemical conducting polymer sensor for the rapid, selective and sensitive detection of biothiols

Summary: This study presents the synthesis of a novel conducting polymer and its application in developing an electrochemical detection platform for biological thiols, exemplified by detection of glutathione. The optimized sensor shows a linear response to GSH concentrations with a limit of detection of 0.32 μM, and demonstrates good selectivity and reusability. The sensor platform is promising for rapid, selective, and sensitive detection of important biological thiols using a simple electrochemical readout.

Ratiometric fluorescence response was observed to discriminate GSH over cysteine (Cys).
