Green analytical chemistry metrics: A review

Muhammad Sajid et al.

Summary: Green analytical chemistry promotes environmentally friendly practices such as reducing the use of toxic chemicals, energy-efficient equipment, and minimizing waste generation. Various metrics have been developed to evaluate the greenness of analytical procedures, with tools like Analytical Eco-Scale and Green Analytical Procedure Index playing important roles in assessing the environmental impact of analytical processes. This paper explores the principles and applications of these greenness evaluation metrics, highlighting both their advantages and limitations in promoting sustainable analytical practices.

Critical analytical review: Rare and recent applications of refractive index detector in HPLC chromatographic drug analysis

Mohammad M. Al-Sanea et al.

Summary: This review article discusses the first collection of drugs analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a refractive index detector (HPLC-RI). The article provides a list of the analyzed drugs and the chromatographic conditions for each method. It compares the efficiency of the RI detector to other detectors used in HPLC methods. It also demonstrates the efficiency of coupling the RI detector with UV or MS, discusses the capabilities of RI in detecting degradates and impurities, and briefly addresses the theory, advantages, disadvantages, and factors affecting separation efficiency of RI detectors.
