A comparative study of selected vitex species for phenolics estimation along with their antioxidant and herbicidal activities

Monika Tewari et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively and qualitatively assessed the phenolics, antioxidant, and herbicidal properties of methanol extracts from different Vitex species collected in the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand, India. The results showed variations in phenolic content among species and locations. HPLC analysis identified different phenolic acids in the extracts. VTP demonstrated the highest antioxidant activity, while VNH had the highest reducing power and VNB showed the highest metal chelating capacity. VNS exhibited effective herbicidal activity by inhibiting seed germination. The selected species were divided into two clusters based on heatmap clustering.

Chemical composition, Biological Activities and In Silico Evaluation of Essential Oils from the aerial, and root parts of Nepeta hindostana (B. Heyne ex Roth)-Haines Grown in North India

Himani Karakoti et al.

Summary: Nepeta hindostana, commonly known as the North Indian Catmint, is an important aromatic and medicinal plant in India. This study analyzed the chemical composition of essential oil from the aerial and root parts of the plant, and evaluated their antioxidant, albumin denaturation, and antifeedant activities. The results showed that both the aerial and root essential oils exhibited antioxidant activity and albumin denaturation activity, while the root essential oil also showed higher α-amylase inhibition activity. Both oils showed significant antifeedant activity against Spilosoma obliqua.
