Sorafenib attenuates liver fibrosis by triggering hepatic stellate cell ferroptosis via HIF-1α/SLC7A11 pathway

Siyu Yuan et al.

Summary: Sorafenib alleviates liver injury and fibrosis by inducing HSC ferroptosis through the HIF-1 alpha/SLC7A11 signaling pathway. Ferroptotic events triggered by sorafenib in HSC-T6 cells were not observed in hepatocytes or macrophages, highlighting the specificity of this process in liver fibrosis attenuation.

Enhanced Apoptosis in Choroidal Tissues in Lens-Induced Myopia Guinea Pigs by Activating the RASA1 Signaling Pathway

Jinpeng Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of the RASA1 signaling pathway in apoptosis in choroid tissues from guinea pigs with negative lens-induced myopia. The results showed that activated RASA1 signaling led to increased expression of BAD and decreased expression of BCL-2, promoting apoptosis and ultimately causing thinning of choroidal tissues in myopic guinea pigs.

Apigenin suppresses TGF-β1-induced cardiac fibroblast differentiation and collagen synthesis through the downregulation of HIF-1α expression by miR-122-5p

Wang Feng et al.

Summary: The study found that apigenin could suppress the differentiation and collagen synthesis of TGF-beta 1-stimulated CFs and mouse cardiac fibrosis by increasing miR-122-5p expression and downregulating HIF-1 alpha expression.

MiR-138-5p Suppresses Cell Growth and Migration in Melanoma by Targeting Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase

Estefania Tarazon et al.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests that miR-138-5p plays a central role in regulating hTERT expression in melanoma cells. Overexpression of miR-138-5p leads to decreased hTERT protein expression and telomerase activity, resulting in suppressed cell growth and migration abilities. Targeting miR-138-5p could be a potential strategy for advanced melanoma treatment.
