Dexamethasone resets stable association of nuclear Snail with LSD1 concomitant with transition from EMT to partial EMT

Satoshi Okuda et al.

Summary: In the process of invasion and metastasis, cancer cells utilize epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). Researchers have found that the association between Snail and LSD1 affects the transition between EMT and partial EMT. Additionally, it was discovered that dexamethasone can revert EMT back to partial EMT.

Targeting LSD1 for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) treatment

Shujing Zhang et al.

Summary: Targeted therapy for AML focusing on LSD1 has shown effectiveness, with LSD1 inhibitors such as TCP, ORY-1001, GSK2879552, and IMG-7289 showing promise in clinical trials. Combination therapies with other drugs may enhance treatment outcomes.

The squamous cell carcinoma cell line OM-1 retains both p75-dependent stratified epithelial progenitor potential and cancer stem cell properties

Ryo Uetsuki et al.

Summary: The study identified p75 as a marker of stratified epithelial stem/progenitor cells in human epithelia and investigated its role in p75 clustering cells in the squamous cell carcinoma cell line OM-1. OM-1 cells showed the ability to form tumor spheres, which was attenuated by inhibition of p75 signaling, and there was also observed a population of p75-negative cells in the culture that could re-commit to becoming p75-clustering cells. These findings suggest that SCC with multi-layering capacity may exploit the p75-dependent stratified epithelial progenitor property for cancer stemness.
