PINK1 mediates the protective effects of thyroid hormone T3 in hyperoxia-induced lung injury

Yi Zhang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that thyroid hormone can reduce lung injury and inflammation in a hyperoxic environment, promoting mitochondrial survival. PINK1(-/-) mice are more susceptible to hyperoxia, but pretreatment with T3 can improve their mitochondrial function. Therefore, PINK1 plays a crucial role in mediating the protective effects of thyroid hormone in acute lung injury.

Thyroid Hormone Receptor α Regulates Autophagy, Mitochondrial Biogenesis, and Fatty Acid Use in Skeletal Muscle

Summary: The study revealed that loss of TR alpha 1 signaling in skeletal muscle leads to decreased autophagy, reduced mitochondrial biogenesis, and impaired lipid catabolism, resulting in muscle weakness.
