UAV in Construction Site Monitoring and Concrete Strength Estimation

Kumar Kumarapu et al.

Summary: Infrastructure plays a crucial role in India's overall development, and effective monitoring and evaluation of construction activities are essential for ensuring structural stability. Advanced technologies such as unmanned vehicles and computer vision-based techniques are needed for real-time monitoring of construction activities. The use of a UAV coupled with Remote Sensing System allows for accurate and cost-effective monitoring throughout all phases of construction activities. This paper proposes a semi-automated Remote Sensing Non-Destructive Method (RSNDT) using a UAV equipped with visible and Thermal Infrared Remote Sensing system for monitoring early age concrete elements. The method involves using visible band images for dimensional accuracy, NIR band for concrete strength, and Thermography principles for mapping the temperature emission during the hydration process.
