The Spectroscopic Binaries from the LAMOST Medium-resolution Survey. I. Searching for Double-lined Spectroscopic Binaries with a Convolutional Neural Network

Bo Zhang et al.

Summary: We developed a convolutional neural network model that can distinguish double-lined spectroscopic binaries based on medium-resolution spectra. The model performs well and is especially suitable for stars with high mass ratio and large radial velocity separation. The model is reasonably reliable and can automatically identify double-lined spectroscopic binaries with periods less than or equal to 10 days.

Double-lined spectroscopic binaries in M11

Mikhail Kovalev et al.

Summary: Our new method successfully identifies double-lined spectroscopic binary candidates from high-resolution Gaia-ESO spectra, suitable for binaries with rapidly rotating components. Testing on synthetic and observational spectra in the M11 open cluster confirmed and discovered multiple SB2 candidates.

Abdurro'uf et al.

Summary: This paper documents the seventeenth data release (DR17) from the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys (SDSS). It includes the complete release of the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey, the MaNGA Stellar Library, and the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 survey. In addition, it presents 25 new or updated value-added catalogs. This paper concludes the release of SDSS-IV survey data and mentions the ongoing observations for the next phase.

Identifying quiescent compact objects in massive Galactic single-lined spectroscopic binaries

L. Mahy et al.

Summary: This study aims to search for dormant stellar-mass black holes by studying 32 Galactic O-type stars and known stellar-mass black hole systems. Multiple methods were used to determine the presence of companions. The results show that out of the 32 single-lined spectroscopic binary systems, 17 have weak secondary companion signatures, 17 newly detected double-lined spectroscopic binaries were identified, and 9 systems possibly have neutron star or low-mass main sequence star companions.

Double-lined Spectroscopic Binaries in the APOGEE DR16 and DR17 Data

Marina Kounkel et al.

Summary: Researchers use APOGEE spectra to automatically identify multiple systems such as double-lined spectroscopic binaries, finding a 3% SB2 fraction among main-sequence dwarfs with some variation in temperature and metallicity. They also determine that some of these systems are eclipsing binaries through light curve analysis.

Double- and Triple-line Spectroscopic Candidates in the LAMOST Medium-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey

Chun-qian Li et al.

Summary: The LAMOST Medium-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey (LAMOST-MRS) has provided a unique opportunity to detect multiline spectroscopic systems. Through analysis of over 1.3 million LAMOST DR7 MRS blue-arm spectra, 3133 spectroscopic binary (SB) and 132 spectroscopic triple (ST) candidates were identified, with over 95% being newly discovered. Interestingly, all ST candidates were found to be on the main sequence, while around 10% of the SB candidates may have components on the red giant branch.

LAMOST Time-Domain survey: first results of four K2 plates

Song Wang et al.

Summary: From October 2019 to April 2020, LAMOST conducted a time-domain spectroscopic survey of four K2 plates, acquiring a large number of spectra with both low- and medium-resolution observations. The survey successfully determined stellar parameters and radial velocities, as well as constructed a binary catalog of about 2700 candidates, showing promising breakthroughs in various scientific topics like binary systems and stellar activity.
