Estimation of the Full-sky Power Spectrum between Intermediate and Large Angular Scales from Partial-sky CMB Anisotropies Using an Artificial Neural Network

Srikanta Pal et al.

Summary: In this paper, an artificial neural network (ANN) is used to predict the full-sky CMB angular power spectrum from a masked CMB temperature anisotropy map. The predicted spectrum shows excellent agreement with the target spectrum, and statistically preserves the cosmic variance accurately. The probability densities obtained from predicted angular power spectra also agree well with those obtained from actual full-sky CMB angular power spectra, demonstrating the importance of using artificial intelligence systems in cosmological analysis more widely.

Summary: This research explores the possibility of using artificial neural networks to reconstruct cosmological parameters and designs an optimal ANN model using mock data to infer the redshift profiles. Cosmological null tests are conducted to confirm the validity of the concordance model, showing a mild deviation with cosmic growth data.

COSMOPOWER: emulating cosmological power spectra for accelerated Bayesian inference from next-generation surveys

Alessio Spurio Mancini et al.

Summary: COSMOPOWER is a suite of neural cosmological power spectrum emulators that provide orders-of-magnitude acceleration for parameter estimation from two-point statistics analyses of Large-Scale Structure (LSS) and Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) surveys. It replaces traditional computation methods and can quickly and accurately recover fiducial cosmological constraints, completing posterior distributions in just a few seconds.

Recovering the CMB Signal with Machine Learning

Guo-Jian Wang et al.

Summary: This study developed a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to recover the weak cosmic microwave background (CMB) signals from foreground contaminations. The CNN model successfully recovered the CMB temperature maps with high accuracy and consistency with actual observations. Moreover, this method proved effective in recovering CMB polarization signals and could assist in detecting primordial gravitational waves in future CMB experiments.

Directional variations of cosmological parameters from the Planck CMB data

S. Yeung et al.

Summary: Recent observations suggest violations of isotropy in the Universe at large scales, which is an important part of the cosmological principle. This study uses cosmic microwave background (CMB) data to investigate spatial variations of cosmological parameters and finds directional dependences and dipole-like distributions of the parameters. The results suggest significant violations of the cosmological principle or previously unknown systematic errors in standard CMB analysis.

Using artificial neural networks to extract the 21-cm global signal from the EDGES data

Madhurima Choudhury et al.

Summary: The redshifted 21-cm signal of neutral hydrogen is a useful tool for studying the evolution of the Universe, but its faint signal is easily perturbed and thus requires simulation using different physical models and processing with artificial neural networks. By reconstructing signal parameters from simulated data and observations, it is possible to infer the physical state of the gas at high redshifts.

An unbiased estimator of the full-sky CMB angular power spectrum a large scales using neural networks

Pallav Chanda et al.

Summary: Utilizing artificial neural networks to predict the angular power spectrum of CMB temperature maps can effectively reduce contamination from galactic foreground emissions. The study demonstrates that the predictions made by neural networks are unbiased and have a smaller correlation with the actual observations, indicating good performance in recovering the underlying theoretical power spectrum.

Explaining cosmological anisotropy: evidence for causal horizons from CMB data

Pablo Fosalba et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the origin of power asymmetry and statistical anisotropy on the largest scales of the universe, as observed in cosmic microwave background and large-scale structure data, and finds evidence for violations of the Cosmological principle of isotropy. The detected anisotropy is related to large-scale directional cosmological parameter variations across the CMB sky, suggesting the existence of finite and casually disjoint horizons across the observable universe.
