Fast plasmoid-mediated reconnection in a solar flare

Xiaoli Yan et al.

Summary: Magnetic reconnection is an energy conversion process that operates at microscopic scales but has macroscopic consequences. Solar flares provide a laboratory for studying this process, and this study combines high resolution imaging and spectral observations with data-constrained modeling to analyze the dynamics of a confined solar flare. The results show evidence of magnetic reconnection in the flare, revealing plasmoids and turbulent motions.

Growth of a filament channel by intermittent small-scale magnetic reconnection

H. T. Li et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors present a detailed study of the formation mechanism of a filament channel (FC) using various observational instruments and methods. They find that partial filament materials are transferred to longer magnetic field lines through small-scale magnetic reconnection. These findings are significant for understanding the formation of FCs.

Dynamical Evolution of an Active-region Filament Driven by Magnetic Reconnection

Yilin Guo et al.

Summary: The study reveals the dynamical evolution of solar filaments driven by magnetic reconnection, affecting the connection of filament threads and footpoint movement. Additionally, the filaments undergo twisting and untwisting motions, with the appearance of bright knots and blobs during the evolution process.

Formation of a Solar Filament by Magnetic Reconnection, Associated Chromospheric Evaporation, and Subsequent Coronal Condensation

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: This study presents the first observation of a solar filament formed by magnetic reconnection, chromospheric evaporation, and coronal condensation. The research finds that magnetic reconnection not only forms the magnetic field structure of the filament, but also drives chromospheric evaporation during its formation. These observations support the evaporation-condensation model and emphasize the crucial role of magnetic reconnection in the formation of solar filaments.

Formation of a Solar Filament by Magnetic Reconnection and Coronal Condensation

Leping Li et al.

Summary: The formation of a sigmoid via reconnection between two sets of coronal loops and subsequent formation of a filament through cooling and condensation of plasma inside the newly formed sigmoid are presented. Observations provide clear evidence of filament formation via magnetic reconnection and coronal condensation.
