Observing Ram Pressure at Work in Intermediate Redshift Clusters with MUSE: The Case of Abell 2744 and Abell 370

Alessia Moretti et al.

Summary: This study utilized MUSE spectrograph to observe two intermediate redshift clusters and discovered 13 galaxies that were subject to ram pressure stripping. These galaxies exhibited clear signs of stripping in terms of gas properties and stellar features, with spectacular ionized gas tails. Additionally, it was found that ram pressure stripping was more effective during the intermediate redshift period.

Revisiting the role of bars in AGN fuelling with propensity score sample matching

Luiz A. Silva-Lima et al.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between barred galaxies and active galactic nuclei (AGN) using a sample from SDSS. The results show that AGN are more commonly found in barred galaxies with higher accretion rates. However, there is no correlation between activity level and bar strength. These findings support theoretical predictions and suggest the presence of other mechanisms at smaller scales.

Exploring the AGN-Ram Pressure Stripping Connection in Local Clusters

Giorgia Peluso et al.

Summary: This study combines MUSE observations and literature survey to robustly measure the AGN fraction in ram-pressure-stripped cluster galaxies. The results show a strong correlation between the AGN fraction and stellar mass, with a significantly higher incidence of AGN activity in ram-pressure-stripped galaxies compared to nonstripped galaxies.

Enhanced Star Formation Activity of Extreme Jellyfish Galaxies in Massive Clusters and the Role of Ram Pressure Stripping

Jeong Hwan Lee et al.

Summary: Jellyfish galaxies in massive clusters show a positive correlation between their star formation activity and the host-cluster velocity dispersion. Jellyfish galaxies with strong ram pressure stripping (RPS) features exhibit higher star formation rates and stronger central concentration compared to those with weak RPS features. This suggests that the relation between RPS and star formation activity of jellyfish galaxies depends on the properties of the host-cluster and the strength of the ram pressure.

Morphology Driven Evolution of Barred Galaxies in OMEGAWINGS Clusters

Amira A. Tawfeek et al.

Summary: This study examines barred galaxies in the cluster environment using a sample of galaxies from the OmegaWINGS survey. The results show a strong correlation between the fraction of barred galaxies and stellar mass and morphological type, with the highest fraction found in massive late-type galaxies. The presence of a bar in a cluster environment is determined by the morphological transformation of the galaxy, independent of cluster mass and clustercentric distance. Tidal forces from close companion galaxies can suppress or destroy the formation of bars. The barred galaxies in the sample are either early-type, star-forming galaxies within the clusters or late-type quenched galaxies located beyond the clusters' boundaries. We propose a scenario where quenched barred galaxies that enter clusters are rejuvenated by the interaction between perturbed gas and the bar during morphological transformation.

Benedetta Vulcani et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the impact of different physical mechanisms on galaxies in varying environments. By examining 24 galaxies with asymmetries and disturbances along with 3 passive galaxies, a panorama of processes in low-density environments is provided. Furthermore, the analysis of VLT/MUSE data allows for the categorization of galaxies into different types.

Galaxy zoo: stronger bars facilitate quenching in star-forming galaxies

Tobias Geron et al.

Summary: The study using Galaxy Zoo DECaLS (GZD) focused on strong and weak bars in disc galaxies, revealing that strong bars are more common in quiescent galaxies and facilitate the quenching process in star-forming galaxies. Differences between strong and weak bars disappear when controlling for bar length, suggesting a continuum of bar types ranging from 'weakest' to 'strongest'.
