Metallicities in M dwarfs: Investigating different determination techniques

V. M. Passegger et al.

Summary: The determination of metallicities for cooler stars such as M dwarfs is more complicated due to the presence of molecular lines. In this study, we determine the effective temperatures, surface gravities, and metallicities of 18 M dwarfs using different methods. We find significant differences in the derived metallicities when comparing different approaches.

A. G. A. Brown et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 is the early installment of the third data release from the Gaia project, providing astrometry and photometry for 1.8 billion sources brighter than magnitude 21, along with radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The data processing precision and homogeneity have significantly improved compared to the previous version, with additional information on celestial bodies and an updated celestial reference frame.

The CARMENES search for exoplanets around M dwarfs Stellar atmospheric parameters of target stars with STEPARSYN

E. Marfil et al.

Summary: The study analyzed atmospheric parameters of 343 M dwarfs observed with CARMENES spectrograph, determining effective temperatures, surface gravities, and metallicities. By applying Bayesian priors and avoiding potential degeneracy, the study provided reliable results for late-type stars. The methodology showed good agreement with existing literature regarding effective temperatures but reported discrepancies in metallicity scales.
