On the Potential of Bright, Young Pulsars to Power Ultrahigh Gamma-Ray Sources

Emma de Ona Wilhelmi et al.

Summary: The recent discovery of new ultrahigh-energy gamma-ray sources, known as Galactic PeVatrons, reveals the presence of cosmic-ray factories that accelerate particles to PeV energies. These sources include supernova remnants, young stellar clusters, and pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe). By comparing with measurements from LHAASO, we can set upper limits on the magnetic field of these sources.

Incremental Fermi Large Area Telescope Fourth Source Catalog

S. Abdollahi et al.

Summary: An incremental version (4FGL-DR3) of the fourth Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) catalog of gamma-ray sources is presented, which contains 6658 sources based on the first 12 years of science data. The analysis improves on the previous catalog by introducing better spectral parameterization for pulsars and extending the spectral points to 1 TeV. Updates are made to the spectral parameters, spectral energy distributions, and associations for all sources.

Constraining leptonic emission scenarios for the PeVatron candidate HESS J1702-420 with deep XMM-Newton observations

L. Giunti et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to search for a hidden leptonic accelerator behind HESS J1702-420A, and constraints on the leptonic contribution to its TeV emission were derived from X-ray observations and HESS spectral energy distribution analysis. No object clearly associated with HESS J1702-420A was found in the X-ray data, but a newly discovered extended X-ray source possibly related to it was found.

Evidence that Ultra-high-energy Gamma Rays Are a Universal Feature near Powerful Pulsars

Summary: The study found that ultra-high-energy gamma-ray emission is a common feature near extremely powerful pulsars, which is influenced by the individual environment surrounding the pulsars.

Evidence of 100 TeV γ-ray emission from HESS J1702-420: A new PeVatron candidate

H. Abdalla et al.

Summary: The study provides an update on the unidentified source HESS J1702-420, a promising PeVatron candidate. The detection of high-energy gamma rays from HESS J1702-420A suggests the presence of PeV protons, making it one of the most solid PeVatron candidates detected so far in H.E.S.S. data.

The highest energy HAWC sources are likely leptonic and powered by pulsars

Takahiro Sudoh et al.

Summary: The HAWC Collaboration observed gamma rays at energies above 56 TeV from nine sources, suggesting that the emission is likely of leptonic origin. This hypothesis is supported by the spectra of the objects, which favor an inverse Compton scenario.

The Hunt for Pevatrons: The Case of Supernova Remnants

Pierre Cristofari

Summary: The search for Galactic pevatrons is a key science project in the very-high-energy domain to identify sources that can accelerate particles up to the PeV range. The detection of gamma rays in this energy range is crucial in pinpointing astrophysical sources that can energize particles, including possible pevatrons.

Spectrum and Morphology of the Very-high-energy Source HAWC J2019+368

A. Albert et al.

Summary: The study presents a detailed analysis of the MGRO J2019+37 region using data from HAWC, resolving it into two sources. One source is associated with the evolved supernova remnant CTB 87, while the other is linked to the pulsar PSR J2021+3651 and its X-ray pulsar wind nebula. Modeling of the spectrum reveals a pulsar and nebula system producing observed emissions at X-ray and gamma-ray energies.
