Addressing Systematics in the Traceback Age of the β Pictoris Moving Group

Summary: We characterized the impact of systematic errors on beta PMG traceback ages, finding that uncorrected gravitational redshift and convective blueshift biased velocity measurements, leading to younger traceback ages, while random errors on measurements also introduced age biases. Outliers and unresolved multiple systems in the data further lowered traceback ages. Applying a new traceback analysis tool to a carefully vetted sample, we obtained a corrected age for beta PMG and explored association size metrics for tracking its spatial extent over time.

Dynamical age of the Tucana-Horologium young stellar association

Summary: In this study, we use the latest astronomical measurement techniques from the third data release of the Gaia space mission and precise radial velocity measurements obtained from high-resolution spectroscopy to investigate the dynamical age of the Tucana-Horologium association. By performing an extensive traceback analysis using different samples of cluster members, metrics to evaluate the association's minimum size in the past, and models for the galactic potential, we derived a dynamical age of 38.5(-8.0)(+1.6) Myr, consistent with previous age estimates obtained from isochrone fitting and lithium depletion.

A Census of the Taurus Star-forming Region and Neighboring Associations with Gaia*

Summary: Using high-precision photometry and astrometry data from Gaia, this study conducted a survey on the Taurus star-forming region and its neighboring young associations, resulting in a new catalog of 532 adopted members of Taurus and the identification of 1378 candidate members of nearby associations. The Taurus members were divided into 13 groups based on distinct kinematics, and the ages of the groups and associations were estimated using low-mass stars in Hertzsprung-Russell diagrams and ranged from 1-3 Myr for Taurus groups to 13-56 Myr for associations. Additionally, 51 stars with circumstellar disks were detected using mid-infrared photometry. Contrary to previous studies, the kinematics of older stars found near Taurus does not suggest a direct association with Taurus.

Impact of a new H/He equation of state on the evolution of massive brown dwarfs New determination of the hydrogen burning limit

Summary: We investigated the impact of a new equation of state (EOS) for dense hydrogen-helium mixtures on the evolution of low-mass stars and brown dwarfs. The EOS considers interactions between hydrogen and helium species, affecting the thermodynamic properties of the mixture and leading to cooler temperatures and fainter luminosities for objects within a given mass and age range. Comparing these new models with observations of dynamical masses of brown dwarfs improves the agreement between evolutionary models and observations and resolves part of the observed discrepancy. Furthermore, the dense EOS yields a larger H-burning minimum mass.

A Census of the Stellar Populations in the Sco-Cen Complex*

Summary: Using high-precision photometry and astrometry data from Gaia, this study identifies candidate members of the stellar populations within the Sco-Cen complex and characterizes their spectral types, Li equivalent widths, and radial velocities. The analysis reveals that the populations in Sco-Cen share similar characteristic masses for their initial mass functions and have spectral type distributions peaking near M4-M5.

A Census of the Circumstellar Disk Populations in the Sco-Cen Complex*

Summary: I have used mid-infrared (IR) photometry from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) to study circumstellar disks in the Sco-Cen complex. The UCL/LCC region in Sco-Cen has the highest number of disks (>500) for its age and provides the most stringent constraints on disk fractions for low-mass stars. The disk fractions in UCL/LCC are lower than those in Upper Sco and decrease with later spectral types. The data show that disk fractions for low-mass stars remain significant at an age of 20 Myr. Age differences between disk-bearing and diskless low-mass stars in Upper Sco and UCL/LCC were not found based on their positions in color-magnitude diagrams.

The Gaia-ESO survey: constraining evolutionary models and ages for young low mass stars with measurements of lithium depletion and rotation

Summary: A growing concern has emerged regarding the discrepancies between standard stellar models and observations of pre-main sequence stars in clusters. In this study, researchers tested different models, including those with surface magnetic fields and cool starspots, and found that magnetic models provide better fit for the color-magnitude diagrams and lithium depletion patterns. The study also revealed a correlation between rotation periods and the brightness and lithium depletion of stars.

A Census of the 32 Ori Association with Gaia

Photogeometric estimates generally show higher accuracy and precision compared to geometric distances, especially for stars with poor parallaxes, and are provided in a publicly available catalog.
