Second hand smoke exposure in pregnant women in Dehradun, Uttarakhand: A cross sectional study

Summary: The aim of this study was to estimate the percentage and sources of secondhand smoke exposure among non-smoking pregnant women. The results showed that more than half of the participants were exposed to secondhand smoke. In addition, a majority of the participants had inadequate knowledge about the harms caused by secondhand smoke.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the impact of maternal secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure during pregnancy on birth outcomes. Results showed that babies born to SHS-exposed mothers had significantly lower mean birth weight, length, and head circumference, with a higher likelihood of delivering low birth weight and shorter babies compared to unexposed mothers.
