Towards the Discovery of Active Lignocellulolytic Enzyme Producers: A Screening Study of Xylotrophic Macrofungi from the Central Russian Upland

Sergey Volobuev et al.

Summary: This study focused on discovering new strains of xylotrophic fungi producing highly active enzymes of the lignocellulolytic complex. Sixty-two fungal strains were isolated and divided into three groups based on their growth rate and enzyme activity, all of which show potential for further biotechnological applications.

Wood degradation by Fomitiporia mediterranea M. Fischer: Physiologic, metabolomic and proteomic approaches

Marion Schilling et al.

Summary: The aim of this study is to understand the molecular mechanisms used by Fmed to degrade wood structure, focusing on its potential adaptation to grapevine wood. The results show that Fmed has a higher degradation ability on grapevine wood compared to other wood species, possibly due to the relative overproduction of oxidoreductases.

Outline of Fungi and fungus-like taxa-2021

N. N. Wijayawardene et al.

Summary: This paper presents an updated classification of the Kingdom Fungi, including fungus-like taxa and fossil fungi. It provides detailed notes for newly introduced taxa and changes made since the previous outline. The paper discusses the latest taxonomic changes in Basidiomycota and broadly explores the classification of Mycosphaerellales. It also discusses problematic genera in Glomeromycota based on phylogenetic analysis.

Grapevine Wood-Degrading Activity of Fomitiporia mediterranea M. Fisch.: A Focus on the Enzymatic Pathway Regulation

Andrea Pacetti et al.

Summary: Fomitiporia mediterranea is a fungus associated with decay in grapevine wood, and its degradation pathways and enzyme activity show significant intraspecific variability. The study suggests that its role in foliar symptoms may have been underestimated, and fungal strain and vine variety are important factors in wood degradation.
