Aryl-aryl linked two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks/cellulose composite monolith with hierarchical structure for aqueous dyes adsorption

Chengda Zhou et al.

Summary: Aryl-aryl linked two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D-COFs) were synthesized and integrated with cellulose matrix to form composite monolith material. The 2D-COFs exhibited rigid structure, regular porosity, and layered nanosheet structure, which could be easily exfoliated without damaging the micron size. The composite material showed excellent adsorption capacities for methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) dyes, with good recyclability and compatibility to different dye concentrations and pH environments.

Rutong Song et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), particularly Fe-MOFs, have the potential to effectively remove organic dyes from wastewater. This study synthesized four types of Fe-MOFs and found that MIL-100 exhibited the highest adsorption efficiency for cationic organic dyes methylene blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RhB).

β-Ketoenamine Covalent Organic Frameworks-Effects of Functionalization on Pollutant Adsorption

Tiago F. Machado et al.

Summary: Water pollution caused by global economic activity is a major environmental concern. Researchers are actively working on developing materials that can selectively and efficiently remove pollutants. In this study, a series of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were synthesized and their adsorption capacity for dyes and heavy metal pollutants was evaluated. The results showed that COFs with specific functional groups had better adsorption capacity for certain pollutants, indicating the potential of these materials in the selective removal of pollutants in water.

A Carboxyl-Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework Synthesized in a Deep Eutectic Solvent for Dye Adsorption

Bin Dong et al.

Summary: A novel carboxyl-functionalized COF (TpPa-COOH) was successfully synthesized using a deep eutectic solvent (Bu4NBr/Im), showing excellent selective adsorption performance for methylene blue and safranine T. The adsorption isotherms of TpPa-COOH for the dyes were well modeled using a Langmuir isotherm, with a higher adsorption capacity observed for safranine T compared to methylene blue. These results could provide guidance for the green synthesis of adsorbents for wastewater treatment.

Functional Porous Organic Polymers with Conjugated Triaryl Triazine as the Core for Superfast Adsorption Removal of Organic Dyes

Yong Zhang et al.

Summary: Conjugated triaryl triazines were used to construct porous organic polymer adsorbents with hierarchical porous structures, sheet-like morphology, good surface wettability, and high functionality, offering superfast adsorption of cationic dyes from water. The adsorbent demonstrated a superior pseudo-second-order rate constant for methylene blue dye adsorption and can be regenerated multiple times without performance loss, indicating its potential for water treatment applications.

Carboxylic Acid-Terminated Carbon Nanoflakes for Selective Adsorption of Water-Soluble Cationic Dyes

Chumki Dalal et al.

Summary: Carbon-based nanomaterials, particularly carboxylic acid-terminated carbon nanoflakes (CNFs), exhibit excellent adsorption capabilities for water-soluble cationic dyes. The adsorption process can be regulated by adjusting parameters like pH, initial dye concentration, temperature, and CNFs concentration, and the CNFs have shown superiority over activated charcoal for dye adsorption.
