Effects of different moisture contents on the structural and functional properties of cellulose with cell wall components in different citrus fibres

Kaja Kristensen et al.

Summary: This research used various methods to analyze the influence of different moisture levels on the structural and functional properties of cellulose in citrus fibers, considering the drying and purification processes and the source of the fibers. The findings showed that a fluidized bed dryer leads to increased aggregation of cellulose fibers, limiting their interactions with other components. Citrus fiber suspension produced through alcohol washing and centrifugal drying exhibited higher storage modulus, loss modulus, and water retention capacity. The composition of citrus fibers and the type of hydrogen bonding play a key role in generating stable rheological and thermal properties and controlling moisture sorption behavior.

Humidity Sensing Ceria Thin-Films

Vilko Mandic et al.

Summary: Lowering the constitutive domains of semiconducting oxides to the nano-range has opened up possibilities in sensing materials research. This study focuses on chemically derived ceria nanoparticles, examining their structural features, electrical properties, and humidity-sensing performance. The results show the influence of composition, configuration, and thin-film thickness on conductivity and humidity sensing, with surface measurements being more sensitive to changes in humidity than pellet form samples.
