High viscosity hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose to improve inkjet printing for cotton/polyamide fabrics

Xiran Qiao et al.

Summary: In this study, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) was used to create a continuous film on the surface of cotton/polyamide interwoven fabric, addressing the challenges posed by acid-base conditions, high temperature, and high humidity in inkjet printing on multi-component fabrics. HPMC connected the fibers in the yarn, preventing ink penetration, and maintained high viscosity under acidic conditions, allowing for dyeing of polyamide fibers with reactive dyes. Compared to sodium alginate, HPMC significantly improved the color depth of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black on cotton/polyamide fabrics.

Enhancement UV-resistance and hydrophobic of cotton fabrics through membrane formation by cationic colored nanospheres

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports a simple method to prepare hydrophobic and UV-resistant multifunctional colored cotton fabrics by using the self-curing technique of cationic polyethyleneimine dye polymer (CPNP(R218)) nanospheres. The CPNP(R218) nanospheres were synthesized and formulated into polymer membranes on the surface of cotton during the dyeing process. The dyed cotton fabric showed good color properties and hydrophobicity, with a static water contact angle (WCA) of 138.4 degrees. The UV protection factor (UPF) value of the dyed cotton was significantly higher than that of the original cotton fabric, indicating the potential of this self-curing film formation method for the construction of multifunctional colored cotton fabrics.

Summary: By utilizing ultrasonic precision spraying technology to construct a film layer on the fabric surface, excellent sound insulation performance has been achieved, effectively reducing noise interference. Adjusting the distribution of filler can significantly alter the sound transmission loss of the sound insulating material. The thickness of the new material is similar to that of wall-cloth, but its sound transmission loss is much better than wall-cloth, enabling the potential application of thin fabrics in the field of acoustic protection.
