Fabrication of 3D lignosulfonate composited sponges impregnated by BiVO4/polyaniline/Ag ternary photocatalyst for synergistic adsorption-photodegradation of fluoroquinolones in water

Boqiang Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel 3D lignosulfonate composited PVF sponge impregnated by BiVO4/PANI/Ag ternary photocatalyst was fabricated and showed excellent performance in the adsorption and photodegradation of fluoroquinolones antibiotics. BiVO4/PANI/Ag was well-dispersed and tightly bound to the composited sponge, which efficiently degraded the adsorbed antibiotics through surface photodegradation. The photocatalyst achieved high removal efficiency for all examined antibiotics and maintained a steady performance in continuous dynamic treatment.

Xue Cui et al.

Summary: A ternary photocatalyst with dual Z-scheme heterojunctions was synthesized and characterized for its high photocatalytic activity and stability under visible light. The study revealed that O-2(-) and h+ played major roles in the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline, while OH- had a relatively minor impact. The findings provide important insights into the photocatalytic mechanism and the design of more efficient photocatalysts.

Yan Wang et al.

Summary: Photoinduced hydrogen production is a promising green strategy for converting solar energy into chemical energy. This study successfully developed noble metal-free photocatalysts by combining different shape-controlled TiO2 nanoparticles and MoxC co-catalyst. The functional properties and efficiency of the composite materials were carefully assessed, and the engineered MoxC/TiO2 interfaces were found to be particularly active in the photocatalytic hydrogen production.

Challenges and opportunities for carbon neutrality in China

Zhu Liu et al.

Summary: China has made significant reductions in CO2 emissions, achieving objectives outlined in Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions and Nationally Determined Contributions. However, China still faces challenges in reaching peak CO2 emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060. Achieving these goals will require increasing non-fossil energy share, deploying negative-emission technologies, promoting low-carbon development regionally, and establishing a nationwide 'green market'.
