Improved dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Sm-doped Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/ 3)O3-Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)-PbTiO3 ternary ferroelectric ceramics

Hongrui Jia et al.

Summary: In this study, Sm-doped Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3-Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)-PbTiO3 ternary ferroelectric ceramics near MPB were successfully manufactured and investigated. The results showed that Sm doping can achieve a high piezoelectric coefficient and a high Curie temperature simultaneously, and the room temperature dielectric constant was greatly improved. These Sm-doped ceramics may have potential applications in high-performance piezoelectric devices.

Photoluminescence Enhancement by Light Harvesting of Metal-Organic Frameworks Surrounding Semiconductor Quantum Dots

Kohei Kumagai et al.

Summary: Metal-organic framework (MOF) based light harvesting, particularly with IRMOF-3 as a surface modifier, enhances the photoluminescence of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) through efficient energy transfer. Directly growing IRMOF-3 crystals on the surface of QDs significantly improves the energy transfer efficiency, leading to a nearly doubled photoluminescence intensity from QDs under optimal conditions. This demonstrates the advantage of using light-harvesting MOFs as a surface modifier for luminescent QDs.

Confining CsPbX3 perovskites in a hierarchically porous MOF as efficient and stable phosphors for white LED

Jing Cuan et al.

Summary: Confining metal-halide perovskites within hierarchically porous MOF hosts enables high loading capacities, uniform distribution, and enhanced stability. The obtained CsPbX3@MOF nano-composites show bright luminescence and good resistance to ambient moisture, UV light irradiation, and anion-exchange. Integration with InGaN LED chips leads to a primary WLED with high color quality values, highlighting its potential in backlight display applications.

Designing multi-mode optical thermometers via the thermochromic LaNbO4:Bi3+/Ln3+ (Ln = Eu, Tb, Dy, Sm) phosphors

Junpeng Xue et al.

Summary: The article discusses the preparation of LaNbO4:1.0%Bi3+/x%Ln(3+) (Ln = Eu, Tb, Dy, Sm) phosphors by solid-state reaction technology, which can emit both Bi3+ and Ln(3+) ions emissions, resulting in multi-color emissions. By taking advantage of the different thermal quenching properties between Bi3+ and Ln(3+) ions, the optical thermometric characteristics of the compounds were evaluated.
