Excess noise in high-current diamond diodes

Subhajit Ghosh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the low-frequency excess noise in high-current diamond diodes. The results show that the electronic excess noise in diamond diodes is mainly influenced by 1/f and generation-recombination noise. This noise is observed as Lorentzian spectral features. Diamond diodes with lower turn-on voltages exhibit distinctive generation-recombination bulges. The noise spectral density shows three distinctive regions with respect to the forward current - scaling as I-2 at low and high currents, and remaining nearly constant at intermediate currents. The trap time constants extracted from the noise data display a strong dependence on current. Interestingly, the performance of diamond diodes improves with increasing temperature. These findings are significant for the development of noise spectroscopy-based approaches for assessing the reliability of high-power diamond electronics.

Charge-pseudospin coupled diffusion in semi-Dirac graphene: pseudospin assisted valley transport

Saber Rostamzadeh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonequilibrium transport of carriers in both standard graphene and semi-Dirac graphene systems, finding that lattice modifications affect carrier diffusion and introducing the concept of pseudospin index in particle current and magnetoelectric effect. The study suggests that pseudospin-charge coupling can be used to design a pseudospin filter.

Tunneling properties in ?-T3 lattices: Effects of symmetry-breaking terms

S. M. Cunha et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the tunneling properties of the alpha-T3 lattice model, particularly the effects of small deviations in atomic site equivalence and the number of tunnel barriers on transmission properties. The study finds interesting tunneling behavior when the energy spectrum transitions from linear to hyperbolic dispersion.

Anisotropic and tunable optical conductivity of a two-dimensional semi-Dirac system in the presence of elliptically polarized radiation

H. Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of the ellipticity ratio of the polarized radiation field on the optoelectronic properties of a two-dimensional semi-Dirac system. Anisotropic optical absorption is observed in both the perpendicular xx and yy directions. The results indicate that the ellipticity ratio, temperature, carrier density, and band-gap parameter play important roles in tuning the strength, peak position, and shape of the optical conductivity spectrum. The findings suggest that the 2D semi-Dirac system can be a promising material for anisotropic and tunable optical and optoelectronic devices.

Klein tunneling of semi-Dirac-like fermions in graphene

Kh Ghasemian et al.

Summary: In this study, the Klein tunneling of semi-Dirac-like fermions confined in a single-layer graphene under uniaxial strain is investigated. The analytical solution for the transmission probability through a two-dimensional electrostatic barrier at the merging point is obtained, and numerical results for various merging parameters are presented. It is shown that the barrier is completely transparent for normal incidence at all merging parameter values, and the exact solution for the transmission probability of a potential step is also obtained.

Anisotropic pseudospin tunneling in two-dimensional black phosphorus junctions

Young Woo Choi et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the interband tunneling properties in lateral black phosphorus junctions are significantly influenced by the anisotropic pseudospin structure, with different tunneling behaviors observed for different junction directions. Junctions of band-gap inverted BP exhibit variations in tunneling effects based on junction direction, suggesting potential in developing high-performance devices.

Engineering Anisotropic Klein Tunneling in Black Phosphorene through Elemental Substitution

Souren Adhikary et al.

Summary: In this study, elemental substitution of P atoms with Si and S was conducted to shift the Fermi energy level in black phosphorene, resulting in a transition from semiconductor to metallic behavior. Si substitution induced metallic behavior due to hybrid dispersive bands, while S substitution introduced excess electrons to shift the Fermi energy level upward.

Anisotropic magneto-optical absorption and linear dichroism in two-dimensional semi-Dirac electron systems

Xiaoying Zhou et al.

Summary: Theoretical study reveals that Landau levels in two-dimensional semi-Dirac electron system under perpendicular magnetic field exhibit a proportional relationship with the magnetic field and level index raised to the power of two-thirds. The anisotropic selection rule for magneto-optical transitions and the significantly different magneto-optical conductivity between linearly polarized light along linear and parabolic dispersion directions indicate the unique features of the system. Ultimately, the results pave the way for the design of magnetically controlled optical devices by leveraging the structure of Landau levels.
