Spin logic operations based on magnetization switching by asymmetric spin current

Yucai Li et al.

Summary: Spintronic devices based on spin orbit torques offer advantages in low power consumption, high speed, reconfigurability, and high endurance. By designing a local spin current gradient, magnetization can be switched deterministically without external magnetic field. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of field-free deterministic current-induced magnetization switching and logic gates based on these devices.

Magnetisation switching dynamics induced by combination of spin transfer torque and spin orbit torque

Andrea Meo et al.

Summary: We present a theoretical investigation of the magnetisation reversal process in CoFeB-based magnetic tunnel junctions. Our results reveal that the combination of spin orbit torque and spin transfer torque can assist in achieving efficient and fast magnetisation reversal on the sub-nanosecond timescale.

Collective skyrmion motion under the influence of an additional interfacial spin-transfer torque

Callum R. MacKinnon et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of an additional interfacial spin-transfer torque on skyrmion collections in ultrathin metal/ferrimagnetic multilayers was investigated. The results showed that the inclusion of interfacial spin-transfer torque reduced the skyrmion Hall angles, which was consistent with experimental observations. The velocity of the skyrmion collections was found to be independent of the diameter, unlike isolated skyrmions. The calculated skyrmion velocities were also comparable to experimental results when the interfacial spin-transfer torque was considered.

Field-free approaches for deterministic spin-orbit torque switching of the perpendicular magnet

Hao Wu et al.

Summary: All-electrical driven magnetization switching is crucial for next-generation spintronic memory and logic devices, particularly in SOT-MRAM technology. Various approaches have been developed to achieve field-free magnetization manipulation, including mirror symmetry breaking, chiral symmetry breaking, exchange bias, and interlayer exchange coupling.

Deterministic magnetization switching by spin-orbit torque in a ferromagnet with tilted magnetic anisotropy: A macrospin modeling

Fengmao Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates field-free magnetization switching by in-plane current injection via spin-orbit interactions in heavy-metal/ferromagnet bilayer systems, which is of great interest for applications of spin-orbit torque. Deterministic switching of the magnetization of CoFeB with a tilted perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is achieved using this method. The mechanism involves the shift of PMA energy barrier with the magnetization angle, leading to bipolar deterministic switching.
