This study presents a terahertz (THz) sensor based on a metasurface integrated with Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) to improve the sensitivity of whey protein detection and enhance the sensing index of group delay. It demonstrates that AuNPs can enhance the sensing performance of the biosensor. The internal mechanism is explained by modified perturbation theory and the coupled harmonic oscillator model. This study provides a method of enhancing the sensitivity of THz biosensors.
