Effects of SO2 on standard and fast SCR over CeWOx: A quantitative study of the reaction pathway and active sites

Yanlong Huo et al.

Summary: The presence of SO₂ has less severe negative effects on the fast SCR process compared to standard SCR. SO₂ inhibits NO adsorption and the nitrite path, leading to decreased SCR activity, especially at low temperatures.

Interconversion between Lewis and Bronsted-Lowry acid sites on vanadia-based catalysts

Rob Jeremiah G. Nuguid et al.

Summary: Temperature, gas feed, and catalyst composition affect the interplay between Lewis acid sites (LAS) and Bronsted-Lowry acid sites (BAS) on vanadia-based materials. Transient experimentation can isolate different LAS, and water can increase BAS. These findings are important for understanding the relationship between LAS and BAS and their role in catalyst reactivity.

Mechanochemically tailoring oxygen vacancies of MnO2 for efficient degradation of tetrabromobisphenol A with peroxymonosulfate

Sylvestre Ndayiragije et al.

Summary: Oxygen vacancy engineering can enhance the catalytic activity of metal oxides. Using a solvent-free mechanochemical method, the VO levels on the surface of commercial MnO2 were successfully tailored, leading to improved catalytic performance. Singlet oxygen, generated from PMS and lattice oxygen of MnO2, plays a crucial role in the degradation of TBBPA. The Mn4+/Mn3+ redox couple is more important in catalytic activity.

Enhanced SO2 resistance of V2O5/WO3-TiO2 catalyst physically mixed with alumina for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3

Se Won Jeon et al.

Summary: In this study, a hybrid catalyst was introduced, which exhibited better stability and sulfur tolerance during SO2 aging. The hybrid catalyst achieved the direct migration of ammonium bisulfate from the vanadia domain to the alumina domain through physical contact, rather than gas-phase adsorption. The surface properties of the mixed alumina played an important role in its affinity to ammonium bisulfate and reusability.

Cerium manganese oxides coupled with ZSM-5: A novel SCR catalyst with superior K resistance

Jiawei Ji et al.

Summary: This study presents a smart strategy to overcome the K poisoning problem of CeMn catalysts by physically coupling with ZSM-5. The results show that the deactivation of CeMn catalysts by K loading is mainly caused by the formation of chemically inert nitrates. By hybridizing with ZSM-5, the stable nitrates over CeMn can be easily activated and consumed, transforming poisoning sites into active sites and ensuring superior catalytic performance.

Simple physical mixing of zeolite prevents sulfur deactivation of vanadia catalysts for NOx removal

Inhak Song et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that physically mixed H-Y zeolite can protect vanadium active sites effectively by trapping ABS in micropores, enabling the catalyst to operate stably at low temperatures and maintaining sulfur resistance during repeated aging/regeneration cycles. The pore structure and framework Al content of different zeolites play a crucial role in determining the trapping ability.

Effects of the morphology and crystal-plane of TiO2 on NH3-SCR performance and K tolerance of V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalyst

Jun Cao et al.

Summary: TiO2 nano-rods have a larger BET surface area compared to nano-octahedrons and nano-truncated octahedrons, facilitating the dispersion of active species and enhancing surface acidity and redox ability. V2O5-WO3/TiO2-NRs catalyst exhibits a stronger interaction between active species and support, leading to increased chemisorbed oxygen ratio and improved performance in NH3-SCR reaction under both Langmuir-Hinshelwood and Eley-Rideal mechanisms.

Structure-Activity Relationships of Hydrothermally Aged Titania-Supported Vanadium-Tungsten Oxide Catalysts for SCR of NOx Emissions with NH3

Jun-Kun Lai et al.

Summary: Supported V2O5-WO3/TiO2 materials are employed as SCR catalysts for NOx emission control. The surface WOx sites stabilize the TiO2 phase, while the surface VOx sites mainly exist as V-5+O-x sites. The concentration of surface NH3* species is lower in hydrothermally treated catalysts, but SCR activity is comparable to calcined catalysts.
