Impact of Pd:Pt ratio of Pd/Pt bimetallic catalyst on CH4 oxidation

Jiseok Park et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of different Pd/Pt ratios on the catalytic methane oxidation reaction. It is found that under dry feed conditions, Pd-only catalyst exhibits the best performance, while under wet feed conditions containing water vapor, bimetallic Pd/Pt catalysts with a small fraction of Pt show superior catalytic performance.

The superior hydrothermal stability of Pd/SSZ-39 in low temperature passive NOx adsorption (PNA) and methane combustion

Konstantin Khivantsev et al.

Summary: Uniform SSZ-39 crystals were synthesized to support Pd for PNA, with Pd primarily dispersed as isolated Pd(II) and Pd(II)-OH centers suitable for low-temperature passive NOx adsorption. The new material exhibited superior hydrothermal stability compared to Pd/SSZ-13, surviving aging up to 815 degrees C without significant loss of activity. In addition to PNA, the hydrothermally stable material can also serve as a robust methane combustion catalyst under practical conditions.

Effects of Hydrothermal Aging on CO and NO Oxidation Activity over Monometallic and Bimetallic Pt-Pd Catalysts

Jochen Schuetz et al.

Summary: The study reveals that aging catalysts leads to a decline in catalytic activity due to particle sintering, and bimetallic catalysts undergo morphological changes during hydrothermal treatment, transforming from core-shell structures to heterogeneous agglomerates.

Engineering catalyst supports to stabilize PdOx two-dimensional rafts for water-tolerant methane oxidation

Haifeng Xiong et al.

Summary: This study presents a catalyst synthesis approach based on anchoring metal single atoms on a support surface, resulting in improved reaction rates and water tolerance during methane oxidation. The results demonstrate that trapping single atoms could be an important tool for controlling the nucleation and growth of metal clusters in heterogeneous catalysts.

Facet-Dependent Oxidative Strong Metal-Support Interactions of Palladium-TiO2 Determined by In Situ Transmission Electron Microscopy

Min Tang et al.

Summary: The study reports a facet-dependent SMSI of Pd-TiO2 in oxygen, revealing the influence of the variable surface structure of TiO2 support on the encapsulation of Pd NPs. The discovery provides direct evidence of the important role of support surface structure in SMSI and offers a new approach to tune the interaction between metal NPs and the support as well as catalytic activity.

Pd-Promoted Co2NiO4 with lattice Co-O-Ni and interfacial Pd-O activation for highly efficient methane oxidation

Juxia Xiong et al.

Summary: Developing advanced Pd-based catalysts with highly efficient catalytic activity and long-term stability remains challenging. The Pd-Co2NiO4 catalysts prepared in this study exhibited attractive activity and stability for methane complete oxidation. The enhanced catalytic properties were attributed to the modulation of electronic structure and metal-support interactions by PdOx species incorporated into Co2NiO4 lattice and surface.

Steam-created grain boundaries for methane C-H activation in palladium catalysts

Weixin Huang et al.

Summary: The study showed that high-temperature steam pretreatment can enhance the mass-specific reaction rate for carbon-hydrogen (C-H) activation in methane oxidation on palladium catalysts. Experimental and theoretical methods demonstrated that crystal twinning increased grain boundary density, leading to higher reactivity.
