Revealing the activity of Co3Mo3N and Co3Mo3N0.5 as electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction

Youyi Sun et al.

Summary: The article introduces phase-pure, unsupported Co3Mo3N as a catalytic material with competitively low overpotential, and emphasizes the importance of nitrogen sites for the stability of nitride catalysts. Research results indicate that although nitrogen sites play a minor role in catalytic performance, their occupancy is crucial for the stability of nitride catalysts in corrosive electrolytes.

Combining heteronuclear correlation NMR with spin-diffusion to detect relayed Cl-H-H and N-H-H proximities in molecular solids

Parth Raval et al.

Summary: Analysis of short-to-intermediate range intermolecular interactions provides a valuable approach to understanding the solid-state organization of small molecules and materials. A combination of 2D NMR spectroscopy techniques allows for the detection of intermolecular distances, particularly when low-gamma quadrupolar nuclei are involved. The presented experiment demonstrates the applicability of the HMQC-SD-RFDR approach in detecting medium-range proximities in molecular solids.

Effect of aluminum and sodium on the sorption of water and methanol in microporous MFI-type zeolites and mesoporous SBA-15 materials

Zheng Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the surface sites and interactions of water and methanol on MFI-type zeolites and mesoporous SBA-15 using solid-state NMR spectroscopy, finding differences in adsorption behavior. Strong adsorption sites for water and methanol were observed on aluminum-containing Na-ZSM-5, while minimal interactions were found on aluminum-containing Na-[Al]SBA-15, with adsorption mainly occurring at SiOH groups influenced by distant framework aluminum species.

Interfacial Engineering of 3D Hollow Mo-Based Carbide/Nitride Nanostructures

Lifeng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, N-doped molybdenum carbide nanosheets and 3D hollow Mo2C-Mo2N nanostructures with tuneable interfacial properties were successfully produced via high-temperature treatment. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed chemically bonded Mo2C and Mo2N nanocrystals in the 3D hollow nanostructures, forming stable heterostructures. The 3D H-Mo2C-Mo2N nanostructures demonstrated lower onset potential and overpotential compared to the N-doped Mo2C@CN nanostructure, attributed to higher active sites and improved interfacial charge transfer.

The Role of Composition and Phase upon the Lattice Nitrogen Reactivity of Ternary Molybdenum Nitrides

Angela Daisley et al.

Summary: The reactivity of lattice nitrogen in filled beta-Mn structured Co2Mo3N and eta-carbide structured Co3Mo3N and Fe3Mo3N was investigated under 3:1 H2/Ar at temperatures up to 900 degrees C. It was found that lattice nitrogen in Co3Mo3N was reactive, while Co2Mo3N was stable up to 800 degrees C. Furthermore, upon H2/Ar treatment at 900 degrees C, the Co2Mo3N, Co3Mo3N, and Fe3Mo3N phases decomposed, indicating that both metal composition and phase have an influence on the bulk lattice nitrogen reactivity of the ternary nitrides.

Process design and exergy cost analysis of a chemical looping ammonia generation system using AlN/Al2O3 as a nitrogen carrier

Xiaoyu Wang et al.

Summary: Chemical looping ammonia generation (CLAG) utilizes nitrogen carriers for N-2 fixation and hydrolysis reactions, offering low-pressure, low energy consumption, and high ammonia yield. The system model with a capacity of 300,000 t/a was established, and optimal operation conditions were determined through sensitivity analyses. The exergy efficiency of the system reached about 26%, with further improvement needed in air separation unit, N-2 fixation reactor, and compression and purification unit.
