Artificial Solar Light-Driven APTES/TiO2 Photocatalysts for Methylene Blue Removal from Water

Agnieszka Sienkiewicz et al.

Summary: This study presents the visible-light photocatalytic performance of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES)-modified TiO2 nanomaterials obtained by solvothermal modification and calcination. The APTES/TiO2 photocatalysts exhibit higher pore volume and specific surface area, and the adsorption process negatively affects the photocatalytic properties. The highest dye decomposition degree is observed for nanomaterials calcined at 900 degrees C with optimal APTES concentration of 500 mM.

Rutile TiO2 Nanoparticles with Oxygen Vacancy for Photocatalytic Nitrogen Fixation

Qing-Yu Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles with large specific surface area and abundant oxygen vacancy were designed for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation, showing high photocatalytic performance with the highest ammonia generation rate exceeding 6.5 times that of P25. This research provides a simple and facile method to prepare highly reactive TiO2 photocatalysts for enhanced photocatalytic nitrogen fixation performance.

Effects of Calcination Temperature on the Phase Composition, Photocatalytic Degradation, and Virucidal Activities of TiO2 Nanoparticles

Min Gu Kim et al.

Summary: Researchers investigated the synthesis and performance of TiO2 nanoparticles, obtaining mixed brookite/rutile phase TiO2 nanoparticles by adjusting the calcination temperature. The TiO2 nanoparticles calcined at 700 degrees Celsius with mixed anatase/rutile phases showed the best photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue and exhibited excellent virus inactivation against various viruses, indicating their potential for environmental applications.

Photoinduced hydrophilic behavior of TiO2 thin film on Si substrate

Aida Rudakova et al.

Summary: The photoinduced hydrophilic behavior of TiO2 thin film synthesized by atomic layer deposition method on p-Si wafer and SiO2-coated glass has been studied. The significant difference in hydrophobicity between the TiO2 film on SiO2-coated glass and the Si wafer is attributed to the formation of a type-II TiO2-Si heterostructure. The role of photoelectrons in the mechanism of light-induced hydrophilic conversion of the TiO2 surface was elucidated.
