Ultrathin g-PAN/PANI-encapsulated Cu nanoparticles decorated on SrTiO3 with high stability as an efficient photocatalyst for the H2 evolution and degradation of 4-nitrophenol under visible-light irradiation

Nan Sun et al.

Summary: This study successfully designed an efficient and low-cost visible light photocatalyst by encapsulating copper nanoparticles (NPs) in an ultra-thin graphitized polyacrylonitrile (g-PAN) layer doped with polyaniline (PANI). The results show that this photocatalyst has a higher photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate and photocatalytic degradation ability, as well as a quasi-cocatalyst effect, which can protect copper NPs from oxidation and promote charge separation.

Computational screening of highly selective and active electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction on single-atom-embedded artificial holey SnN3 monolayers

Xian Wang et al.

Summary: The study examines the feasibility of embedding single transition metal atoms into an artificial holey defective SnN3 monolayer for nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR). The results show that V, Mo, Hf, and Ta anchored on the SnN3 monolayer exhibit high activity and selectivity in NRR, with low energy cost and fast kinetics. Their durability, kinetic stability, and synthetic accessibility make them suitable for real experimental conditions.

Universal-Descriptors-Guided Design of Single Atom Catalysts toward Oxidation of Li2S in Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

Zhihao Zeng et al.

Summary: The study explores the Li2S oxidation processes over MN4@G catalysts and identifies three key parameters related to Li2S decomposition, which can serve as efficient descriptors. Two excellent SACs, MoN4@G and WN4@G, are screened using these parameters to enhance the redox kinetics of Li2S. This method can be extended to a wider range of SACs for efficient catalyst design in Li-S batteries and beyond.

Photocarrier-assisted photothermocatalysis of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis for the enhanced yield of C2-C4 hydrocarbons over a Co/SrTiO3 catalyst

Shangbo Ning et al.

Summary: By utilizing photocarrier-assisted photothermocatalysis, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis was achieved over a Co/SrTiO3 catalyst. The selectivity to C2-C4 hydrocarbons showed nearly 5-fold enhancement compared to Co/SiO2, indicating the potential for high value-added hydrocarbon production. This work may lead to the development of photocarrier-assisted photothermocatalysis systems for solar-to-chemical energy conversion applications.
