Predictive value of HDL function in patients with coronary artery disease: relationship with coronary plaque characteristics and clinical events

Marco Magnoni et al.

Summary: The study found that SR-BI-mediated cholesterol efflux is significantly reduced in patients with CAD, while ABCA1-mediated cholesterol efflux is similar among all groups. In CAD patients, SR-BI-mediated cholesterol efflux <25th percentile predicted cardiovascular outcomes, whereas ABCA1-mediated cholesterol efflux and HDL-C levels did not. Despite reduced SR-BI-mediated cholesterol efflux, there were no changes in high-risk plaque features or prevalence of elevated plaque volume.

Prognostic value of systemic inflammatory response index in patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

Kangning Han et al.

Summary: The study examined the association between the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) and adverse events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. The results showed that SIRI was an independent risk factor for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and provided incremental prognostic information in ACS patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.

The Relationship Between Coronary Calcification and the Natural History of Coronary Artery Disease

Han-Young Jin et al.

Summary: The study found that calcified plaque volume is closely related to the progression of coronary artery disease, but this association becomes negative after accounting for baseline plaque volume. Conversely, the percentage of calcified plaque volume is an independent predictor of plaque volume reduction. High CPV is associated with major adverse cardiac events, while high PCPV is inversely related to adverse cardiac events.
